you guys remember the entry from march 20th? about the light novel contest results????? they're........ THEY'RE STILL NOT OUT. the judges said they need an additional week to determine the winners. i COULDN'T SLEEP the night of the 30th. i was expectant the whole day. and then i found out the announcement would be a week late. i don't exactly know when either. it could be on monday, it could be today T-T
moving on to the second round would be a dream come true. i don't really mind losing (i have a solid plan b), but the uncertainty is killing me. i just want to KNOW already. i also realized only winners will be notified, so i'll just have to keep refreshing every single j-novel club channel from here to monday just in case.
also, i got 10 empty audio cassettes for 5 bucks at a really old shop, so i've been recording some playlists and stuff into them. they sound TERRIBLE. I LOVE THEM.
you can check out the first one at the bottom of the right sidebar :) it's called "analog headspace (vol. 1)", and it's got some bo en, kikuo, and kero kero bonito. i find the noise and warble of cassettes really comforting for some reason. it's my comfort media format. lemme know if you listen to it!!
my favorite band was in town, so i got to see them last night. HOT MULLIGAN!!!!! it was insane. greatest concert i've ever been to. best of all, the drummer, brandon blakeley, GAVE ME HIS DRUMSTICK. ME. i'm having a hard time processing the COOLNESS of what happened. life is still good.
i'm expectant. about three months ago i submitted megalo sky (my novel) to the j-novel club original light novel contest, and the first-round results will be out on march 31st. THE THING IS..... the ones who pass the first round are supposed to be notified beforehand. BUT I DON'T KNOW WHEN. it could be two hours before the public announcement, it could be today. so if i'm not notified i'll carry this knot in my stomach up to that very day.
i don't mind not winning the grand prize (though it'd be a dream come true), but i would really love to pass the first round, as it'd mean professional feedback from the kadokawa editors. i know megalo sky is not perfect yet, and i didn't have the time to polish the second half just right, but i believe in my story with my whole heart, and i know it may have what it takes to pass the first round. i won't cry if i'm defeated, but the slightest recognition would make my year.
so i'll keep you all posted!! i'll try to let you know for either case, so stay tuuuuuned.
i was also thinking of uploading "the last transmutator" (my 2021 post-apocalyptic novel) here. it isn't nearly as polished as my newer material, as i haven't touched it in the last four years, but it still holds a special place in my heart as my first big novel (350 pages or so). maybe i will! it was made with a lot of passion, and i'm sure many of you may enjoy it despite its flaws :)
for some reason i've been switching hyperfixations really quickly as of late. from this website, to walkmans, to hamilton, to my grandpa's biography... i have felt... unpredictable, erratic. not sure what's going on.
some time ago i self-published a book on amazon (in spanish, sorry everyone!!) and yesterday the latest printing came in. with the old cover instead of the new one. it was insanely frustrating!! it's the same content, but the new cover was prettier...
working on a bunch of new stuff now. pretty excited about most, but i'm kinda scared of not being able to finish some. don't wanna buuuurn oooout.
sorry for not updating the site much this last week T-T... i've been on a bunch of different stuff, including (but not limited to) collecting and repairing walkmans!!! i've managed to get my hands on a sony wm-fx171, a casio as-201r, and a sanyo m-1119 :) i'd like to eventually record my lo-fi tracks onto tape, but the only tape recorder i have right now (the sanyo player) has a busted potentiometer (speed control) and a LOT of warble and wow/flutter, so it hasn't really worked out just yet.
anyway, i've been working a lot of my music lately! i've got a new lo-fi album coming out next wednesday, so stay tuned for that!!! i think it's neat :D
i'm making good use of the last few weeks of summer break by giving my creative projects my all! i uploaded my microttrpg to drivethrurpg, where it's gotten a pretty good reception (including a 5-star rating!!), and changed the cover of my spanish short story collection ("Nomeolviden"). i'm not done with the zine story yet but it's going great. also, --announcement--, i'm planning on translating my short story collection to english soon!!!!!! i think you internet people would enjoy it, and you're kinda my target audience, so i don't think i'm taking good advantage of the collection with it being a spanish-exclusive, you know. so stay tuned for that!
sorry for not updating the site that often this couple of days, but big art stuff is coming soooon >:)
yesterday i gave another pass at the micro tabletop role-playing game (microTTRPG) i made on february last year (around this same time). updated it with the new megalo sky lore and drew up a new cover. this second edition is already up on itch.io, and i'd like to soon have it on drivethrurpg too!!! while it's pretty bare-bones, i think it fulfills the purpose of a one-page microrpg that embodies what my novel's about, so i'm satisfied with it for now :)
between yesterday and today i finally managed to work out the backstory for a short story i'm writing for a zine with friends. it takes place in the far past of my novel (megalo sky)'s world, which is [spoiler alert] our current world.
it's about a flying ship that travels to the past (to our time) to warn everyone of the upcoming cataclysm that will destroy everything on the year 2038 and turn our reality into megalo sky's state. it's narrated from the point-of-view of a college freshman that finds out about the legend of a flying ship trapped eternally above the clouds -which is, indeed, THE flying ship i just mentioned.
my problem is......... i don't know how i'll make this story fit into 10-15 pages. it kinda sounds more novella-lengthed. i know stories are scalable, but it may take some work to shrink this one :p
update: it's a few hours later, and i succesfully finished planning it!! i jotted down the events page-by-page, so in theory i shouldn't go past the limit. so far... success.
